Research on the Ability of Inquiry Learning in Subject-Based Learning Website

As an old adage states: “Tell me and I forget, show me and Iremember, involve me and I understand.” Inquiry Learning, as a newapproach in junior educational reform, is received more and moreattention from experts and educators. “Inquiry” is defined as “a seekingfor truth, information, or knowledge–seeking information byquestioning.” Breaking through the restriction of traditional textbooksand classroom, Inquiry Learning asks students to choose, survey andcreate in a free circumstance. It is hard to undertake general InquiryLearning due to the limited resources, however, Inquiry Learningthrough project-based learning website offers the learners substantiallearning resources and collaborative communication tools supported bythe network learning environment. The learners will choose and identifythe project, and then conduct a series of research process, such asdesigning project, collecting and analyzing data, applying knowledgeinto practical problems. Inquiry Learning attaches great importance tothe problem solving process inquired by students collaboratively, andhelp students experience and acknowledge the scientific inquiry process,which improve the capabilities of collecting, analyzing and processinginformation, as well as cultivating the creative thinking and informationliterature. Besides that, Inquiry Learning creates an ideal instructionalenvironment, which maximizes the advantage of network Education toinspire the students’ learning interest.The paper includes two parts:1. Start with the analysis of Inquiry Learning capabilities scope, theresearch builds an Inquiry Learning capability model covering required capabilities for Inquiry Learning through the methodology of literatureanalysis, logical induction and survey. The capability model is the core,start and regress point of Inquiry Learning.2. After putting forward a new learning model based onsubject-based learning platform, the research conducts an experiment toevaluate the validity of the platform.Inquiry Learning through subject -based learning platform is animportant and effective measurement for cultivating learning capabilityof students. With the help of network technology, substantial intellectualresources, a communication space offered by the learning platform, canimprove the process of conducting Inquiry Learning, which help promotethe cultivation of students’ creative thinking and spirit.
